Static vs. Dynamic Languages: Food For Thought
I came across a really interesting blog post entitled "What to Know Before Debating Type Systems" in another blog post today and since this topic comes up with relatively high frequency in the CFML community, I figured it would be a good link to share.
If you're interested in this topic you really owe it to yourself to check it out, so I won't spoil your fun other than to say if you think you have this topic all figured out, you may want to think again. It's a much more grey area than many people think. The fallacies section and the questions at the very end are particularly good.
Thanks Matt! That was really informative. :) As a matter of fact I think I've got a blog entry or two I need to double-check for inaccurate verbiage. :) Didn't change my opinions about syntax, but I did realize that I've talked about syntax in a rather imprecise way for some time now.
p.s. How'd you think I did with the DataFaucet presentation earlier? I watched it afterward to see if I could find ways to improve my presentation skills in the future. I still felt like my speaking was a bit stumbly, but I'm not sure if others had that impression. :)

Wow. I'm really flattered. This seems to have been a personal best for me in terms of presenting. Very few questions and the couple of folks who rated it on meetup.com gave it 4-5 stars. And there were about 10 downloads right after the presentation, which is like 2/3rds the attendees.
I guess I'm still kind of "waiting for the other shoe to drop". :P
But it's wicked cool that everyone's so happy with the presentation. :)
